My Flaming Dr. Pepper Night

So last night, Me, Kelli, Daniel, and Joy met up with Phuong, Annie, and Julie at the DKE house for some yummy-yummy Flaming Dr. Peppers. The night started off great... great party, great band, great company, and of course, great drinks.

What went down in the following 15 minutes, no one could have saw coming. So I'm not really sure exactly what happened, but if you were there, please fill in the blank spots. But all I remember was one minute I was chilling with my friends, waiting for my next Flaming Dr. Pepper, and the next, my arm was on fire. Apparently, one of the bottles that the bartender was holding exploded, and alcohol/flames flew out, hitting a few people, including myself.

I had become a Flaming Dr. Pepper.

Then, my hero of the night, Daniel, sees my arms in flames and uses only his MANLY BARE HANDS to put out the fire.

Then I went into hysterics. Not so much from the pain of the burn, but from seeing my arm on fire, and seeing another girl with flames on her chest and face, thrashing around on the ground. That image will be forever embedded into my mind.

It's scarred me for life. Literally.

After calming down some, Vivian came to pick me up to take me back to our apartment. That's when I called my mom and sufficiently freaked her out. Cause really, what can be more terrifying than getting a phone call from your crying daughter at 1 in the morning? Then I called my manager and told him something along the lines of, "Uhhh, yeah so I went to a party and I CAUGHT ON FIRE. I don't think I can go to work tomorrow".

After my phone calls, my friends decided that it be best that I go to the hospital to get my arm checked out. And as much as I despise hospitals, I knew they were right. And I'm totally glad I did because we made some good friends while we waited in the waiting room for THREE HOURS.

My favorite character was Heroin Lady. I can't even begin to describe just how much was wrong with her.

Heroin Lady, Visitor, our games of Hodgey Podgey, Telephone, and Mafia definitely made my 3-hour wait time worthwhile. And it took my mind off of what happened earlier in the night.

When my name was finally called, I had to leave my buddies and go into an empty room by myself, where I waited for another hour and a half before someone finally attended to me. I've got some 2nd degree burns, and I can't wait till it starts to blister and ooze out delicious bodily fluids.

My poor arm, all bandaged up.

Anyway, I didn't end up getting home till 6:30am. My bed was incredibly inviting. I think I was more traumatized by the 5 hours I spent in the hospital than the burn itself.

As Daniel puts it, last night was HOTTTT.

Hahaha. Lame. I love it.

No, but in all seriousness, despite me making light of this situation, being burned is no joking matter. This shit hurts like a motherfucker. And to think that I used to whine and complain about my pussy oven and cigarette burns. This time, it was the real deal, and to say that it sucks would be an understatement.

I can't stop thinking about the other girl who got it worse than me. I'm already complaining about my burns, so I can't even imagine what she's going through right now. I also can't stop thinking about how much worse things could have been. What if I was really drunk and didn't know what to do? What if there was a draft of wind in the room? What if I was wearing a long-sleeved shirt? What if it had gotten to my face? These "if's" keep running through my head... and I am more grateful now than ever that things were not as bad as they could have been.

But honestly, who the fuck catches on fire nowadays? Seriously.

Anyway, I'm okay now. Still a little shaken up, but I'm gonna be alright. Especially now that I've got my buddy, Vicodin. My wound shouldn't scar up too bad, as long as I take good care of it.

Lastly, I just want to thank my friends.

Julie and Phoung - thanks for keeping your cool and making sure I was okay.

Annie - thanks for yelling that the GBs and making them go away. That was funny.

Prudon - your face when you saw me was priceless. It made me chuckle a little on the inside.

Park - thanks for staying with me the whole time at the GB house.

And a HUGE thanks to Kelli, Joy, Vivian, Richard, and Daniel for coming with me to the hopsital. And waiting there for like, ever, for me. I think I would have gone crazy if you guys weren't there to get my mind off of things. Having you all there with me the whole time meant more to me than you will ever know. I'm definitely blessed and incredibly lucky to have friends like you guys. No joke.

And Daniel, you're amazing. Thanks for being my hero of the night.

Haha. Barf.
